'What if....Tenderness could move the World' is the intriguing theme of an exhibition at kunstRUIM in Amsterdam. Tenderness to confront today's threatening world is a challenge that puts many on edge.
Six women enter the fray, with art as the flywheel. Art that seeks not grandeur but integrity. In search of connection with - and tenderness in - themselves and the world that surrounds us all. And fully aware that this can be risky. In an attempt to make contact with nature; with the earth, with the other, everything is pulled out of the closet: one's own body, hard and soft materials; colours and contrasts are exposed in various techniques. Confrontation is sought, emotional tension takes shape.
Interaction with the audience is essential for this group. There will be workshops, at the opening Guido Hanegraaf will play music specially composed for this exhibition. Former contemporary art curator of Museum Arnhem, Mirjam Westen, will give a lecture and engage in discussion with the audience and the artists on the theme of this exhibition.
