The Wallen Festival returns this year!!

30-03-2026

On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June you'll have the unique opportunity to (re)discover the vibrant heart of Amsterdam. Wander along the narrow canals and through picturesque alleyways, enjoy live music, sample local delicacies, attend a mini-workshop, and visit one of the many special historical sites. There are over 90 different activities, as varied and colourful as the neighbourhood itself.

Oldest and most versatile neighbourhood in the city

The Wallen district is Amsterdam's oldest and one of its most diverse neighbourhoods. The Wallen Festival invites Amsterdam residents to (re)discover the area. The festival is a joint initiative by the seven business improvement districts (BIZs), residents, cultural creators (united in Culturele Wallen), and social partners, aiming to let Amsterdam residents experience this diversity.

Colourful programme

The programme for the Wallen Festival has been put together by residents, entrepreneurs and cultural creators. As a result, the offering is as varied and idiosyncratic as the neighbourhood itself. For example, you can create your own Wallen Festival cocktail on the Zeedijk, enjoy unique concerts on the Prins Hendrik- and Geldersekade, take a peek inside a brothel on the Oudezijds Achterburgwal, and row through the canals with rowing club ’t Juiste Tuig. Experience a day as a tourist by joining one of the many tours made available by Wallen experts. Furthermore, local residents will welcome visitors into their homes to share their own perspective on the neighbourhood.

Personal route and free entry

With the programme booklet, including a map and schedule, visitors can easily create their own route through the neighbourhood. Almost all programme items are freely accessible. In addition, several locations that normally charge an entrance fee will open their doors for free during the festival upon presentation of the programme booklet, including the Rembrandt House Museum and the Old Church. Museum Our Lord in the Attic offers visitors a special festival discount.
