In this Silence edition, composer and producer Anushka Chkheidze presents her composition Intricate Pipes: a project in which she plays pipe organs as a programmable instrument using digital means. The eighteenth-century Vater-Müller Organ sounds in an entirely new and contemporary way through the electronic setup.
About Anushka Chkheidze
Anushka Chkheidze is an electronic music composer and producer from Tbilisi, Georgia, whose genre-transcending work bridges the gap between the avant-garde, contemporary classical music and the world of IDM. As a child, she attended music school and sang folk songs in the youth ensemble. At 11, she started singing in a small village chapel. Her electronic music is influenced by those childhood years. Chkheidze also makes music for film and theatre. On her debut album Halfie, she discovers a completely new side of herself, also playing with ambient and classical influences. Second record ‘Move 20-21’, on the contrary, is a journey for the mind through space and time.
Intricate Pipes was a joint commission of Monheim Triennale and Gaudeamus Festival, and premiered at Monheim Triennale 2025.
About Silence
Music series Silence is a series of morning concerts. Every first Friday of the month as the city awakens, musicians explore the ancient acoustics of the Oude Kerk. Central to the Silence series is contemporary music that fuses acoustic, digital and electronic sounds. Following Sweelinck's walking concerts hundreds of years ago, audiences can relate to the music while walking through the ancient architecture.
