De Wallen, the Nieuwmarktbuurt and Lastage are changing rapidly. Tourism, regulations, liveability and the economy are in constant flux. But what will our neighbourhood look like in 15 years? And how do we ensure that the area remains a pleasant place to live, work and visit?
To not be caught unawares by the future, we want to shape it ourselves. The Here I Want – I'm thinking invites you to the Future Exploration Wallen, Nieuwmarkt & Lastage.
We view this roundtable discussion as a first follow-up step to the Neighbourhood Economy Congress we organised in November 2025 at the Beurs van Berlage. We are a group of concerned residents who, on a voluntary basis and as an independent initiative, are working for the neighbourhood. https://hierwilik.nl
During this initial meeting, we will look beyond the concerns of the day. In mixed teams, we will map out opportunities. First, we will identify and visualise how the neighbourhood could look in 2050, and then we will determine the intermediate steps required to get there. The core value of this approach is to strengthen the engagement of everyone involved in the process. The aim is to arrive at a A broad vision of the neighbourhood economy in 2050 for the Wallen, Nieuwmarkt, and Lastage.
We want to do this with many stakeholders and therefore also with you!
Retrieved from Monday 29 June from 16:00 to 18:30 It's the first conversation; the location will follow.
