What happens to cleaning products after they have gone down the drain? Many contain substances that are difficult to break down and difficult to remove from wastewater. And that while clean water is becoming increasingly scarce. On Thursday 5 November, you can make cleaning products yourself at Waag Open, which leave fewer harmful substances in the wastewater.
But what exactly do you need to clean your house and what ingredients can you use for that? During the workshop, you will look at cleaning from the perspective of water and will look for alternatives to the products we use daily. This way, even something as ordinary as cleaning can contribute to cleaner water.
During the workshop, you will make various cleaning products, from sprays to scouring pads. Using ingredients such as lemon, vinegar, baking soda, and soap, you will experiment with properties such as acidity and scrubbing power. You will use herbs, plants, and kitchen scraps to add fragrance. You will exchange recipes and knowledge with other participants and take your own cleaning products and recipes home with you.
Do you still have an empty spray bottle or a small jar at home? Then please bring that along! We only have a limited number of bottles and jars available.
