CONTRAPUNT is a group of six visual artists, - Caroline Meerum Terwogt, Frits Heimans, Ad van Liempt, Annelies van der Stel, Nosrat Mansouri Gilani and Jos den Dikken - who work from very different backgrounds and starting points.
The unifying element is the concept of counterpoint, a Renaissance musical innovation where multiple voices enrich the main melody. The musical metaphor, this polyphony, is stimulating and inspiring for the group. The counterpoint voices are not only psychological, but also musical, poetic and political in nature.
By doing so, the artists hope to lay a great foundation for this exhibition. The official opening is on Wednesday 20 August at 3pm, the finissage on Sunday 31 August at 3pm. The artists will be present then and you are most welcome!
