Hilde Hoekstra (@hoeksart) is an experienced artist who has been working with various printmaking techniques for years. Her great passion? Monoprinting with a gel plate. This technique has completely captivated her – and you'll understand why as soon as you try it yourself. What is a gel plate? A gel plate (also called a Gelli Plate) is a flexible printing plate made of silicone and gelatine. Sounds technical, but it's actually wonderfully accessible! You can easily work with acrylic paint, oil paint, or printing ink – and the possibilities are endless. Work in layers, play with shapes and textures, incorporate photos from magazines… Every print yields a unique result. No two prints are the same!
Why this workshop?
• You don’t have to be an artist – beginners are very welcome
• You work with professional materials: gel plates, rollers, acrylic paints, stencils and acid-free paper
• No fuss with special ink – acrylic paint dries quickly and is easy to use
• You're guaranteed to go home with a surprising, unique print of yourself
Under Hilde's enthusiastic guidance, you will discover how versatile and playful this technique is. You will surprise your own creativity!
